The Story of Black Sheep Weddings & Events..

How it all started…

A landscaper, Tom, and a bar manager, Bob, met several years ago. No, there was no intention to create a business partnership right away. Each had their own business to work and families to take care of. But over time, Tom started thinking about one of the dreams he had always had about owning a bar and restaurant. Even though he had little to no experience (aside from being a bus boy years ago and a little bartending) he believed that he knew what it would take and he would be good at it. He always loved the TV show Cheers and thought how great it would be to have a place where neighbors could gather and become friends. So one day, Tom walked in to the bar Bob was managing. Knowing how many years of experience he had in the business, it was just the insight that was needed. So Tom suggested to Bob that together, they should consider buying a local bar and restaurant that was for sale and creating a place where everyone would walk in and feel welcomed, and leave feeling like family. And that was how the Black Sheep Pub and Grill was created and several years later (and counting), we are all still in awe of the following we have, our patrons that we now consider family and the love that our community has shown us.

In these past four years, we have had a variety of conversations with many people from Green Bay and the surrounding areas. Conversations were about life, work, family and fun. A lot of times it was about kids getting married, graduation parties, area event happening, etc. Sometime we would be asked if we had options to hold any of these types of events. Due to the size of our restaurant, it wouldn’t be possible for large events, but we could definitely work with smaller parties. So of course, when we couldn’t accommodate certain requests, people would tell us that we needed to add on a room…then it was several rooms…and then it was you need an event space so you can have weddings and concerts and…you get the picture. All those things that made us go…Hmmmm?

A new Black Sheep is born…

After much consideration, and several stars aligning, we decided take a leap of faith and extend the Black Sheep by building a wedding and event venue to give people another place to gather and create memories. It also helps that we love to serve our community and what better way but to create a space where couples can create a special day that is all about them to share with their families and friends. Or a venue to hold a private events, whether on a small scale or a large corporate function. No, we didn’t have a venue background and we knew it was a completely different type of business than what we were used to. However, our dedication to service is something we know and are very good at. And that is something our patron depend on and can trust, especially when it comes to executing your big day.

After another several years in business now with Black Sheep Weddings & Events, we have become on of the most sought after venues in the Green Bay Area.
